Long Time Gone

It's been a long time since I posted any new material here.  It's not that I haven't been busy painting and creating - quite the opposite.

I have been posting my work on my personal Facebook page and participating in various Facebook artist groups.  It seemed like an easier platform for a quick post and an easier way to connect with people who might want to view my work.

But that has neglected any of you who might have enjoyed receiving updates from me in your inbox - and I hope there are at least a few. 😉

Since I last posted I have gotten back to oil painting.  Oil painting was my first love, dating way back to the 6th grade when I purchased my first oil paints and easel.  (Shortly after man quit chipping images into cave walls...)  Once I got into watercolors, pastels, etc, I decided oil painting was a bit too messy and toxic.  But then I kept seeing beautiful oils on Pinterest and was drawn in by the depth of color and the visible brush strokes.  So I signed up for an oil painting class with Dreama Tolle Perry.  Then another and another and I was hooked!  I discovered water-soluble oils can give beautiful results without all of the toxic paint thinners and removers.  They are still messier than watercolors but that is part of the fun.  Putting oils on a canvas is like spreading frosting - creamy and delightful!

I still do watercolor painting, as well.  In fact, I am in the middle of illustrating a children's book written by Martha McAfee.  But more about that in an upcoming post...

I will be posting my watercolors and oils here and hope to start offering prints of my work very soon.  I am exploring different ways to do that and still maintain the quality.  And for any of you who know me personally, quality is extremely important.  If I can't do it right then I just don't want to do it. 😊

Hope you are as happy to see me in your inbox as I am to be here!  Wishing you all good health.  Stay safe, stay sane and God bless you.
