March Tag

I have become a fan of all things Tim Holtz.  I have watched all of the videos on his blog and have been collecting his products.  The Distress line of colors is sooo much fun to play with.  And you wouldn't believe the things I have cut with the Bigz Dies.  Shopping at Sam's is so much more interesting when you think about the things you can cut out of all of those cartons your food comes in.  I am especially partial to the cardboard boxes the Yoplait Greek Yogurt comes in.  The inside of these boxes is the most beautiful shade of brown.  It makes lovely dress forms and spools when stamped with a wood grain stamp.  It also embosses beautifully with embossing folders.  Just the right weight.

Given all of the supplies I have amassed I figured I better produce something - right?!  So I decided to participate in Tim's monthly tag challenge.  Here is my tag for March.

My tag reflects my longing for spring! I so loved Shelly Hickox tag last month that was cut from a folder. Wanting to include one of my original watercolor paintings on the inside, I began by printing the painting on a 5"x17" sheet of Strathmore 100 lb. smooth bristol. This printed beautifully with my Epson 1400. I then scored and folded the sheet with the printing to the inside. Before I cut the tag to size, I misted the front with Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire distress ink mixed with water in the mini misters.  Once dry, I misted again with Thatched Roof Cottage Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels).  After cutting a hole in the center, I cut various colors of brown Kraft-Core Nostalgic cardstock with the Autumn Gatherings Sizzix die for the twigs forming the nest around the opening. I cut some brown cardboard (from a yogurt case) with the Bird Branch Sizzix die, stamped it with a wood grain stamp (handmade) and Vintage Distress ink. Colored the bird with distress stains and added some Studio G glitter glue on the bird and branch.  The leaves and twigs on the front were misted with Thatched Roof Cottage before gluing on. The front banner was made with the Tattered Banners Sizzix die. The sentiments are hand written. The watercolor painting on the inside is my own original which I scanned and printed. The ribbon is seam tape that I tinted with various color Glimmer Mists. The flower on the front is by Prima Handmade. The leaves were cut from Kraft-Core Nostalgic with the Autumn Gatherings Sizzix Die

Thanks for stopping!
